Job Type: Part-time
Location: Virtual (Remote)
Commitment: 10-15 hours / week
Job Description
Are you a strategic marketer who loves leveraging data to create impactful campaigns across various marketing channels?
Do you excel in fast-paced settings and have a desire to shape the future within an innovative startup?
If this sounds like you, we would love to connect!
In short, we’re looking for a self-starter to take ownership and lead the marketing and brand machine at Afterskills.
The initial commitment required for this role is 10-15 hours per week and for the right candidate, this opportunity has the potential to become a full-time, permanent role in the near future (i.e., 6-12 months)!
Role expectations / responsibilities / priorities in the first 90-days
- Content Strategy & Thought Leadership: Develop and manage the content calendar to establish the company and leadership team as thought leaders in the L&D space. You’ll coordinate content development across the business and strategically repurpose it across multiple channels (e.g., newsletters, blog posts, LinkedIn articles). You’ll also work closely with the sales team to support their efforts in providing engaging content to aid in their sales conversations.
- Live Event Management: Collaborate with leadership and sales teams to identify opportunities for online events aimed at both current and potential clients. Take ownership of planning and logistics, including managing invite lists, setting up registration platforms, sending reminders, and following up with participants. The primary objective of these events is to showcase our market expertise and provide value beyond sales.
Longer term expectations / responsibilities / priorities (beyond 90-days)
- Email & Outreach Campaigns: Own the end-to-end process of email and outreach campaigns (e.g., newsletters). This includes content creation, proactively gathering input from stakeholders, meeting deadlines and conducting post-distribution analysis. You’ll be asked to provide actionable recommendations based on performance metrics to enhance engagement and targeted outcomes.
- Conference Engagement: Increase Afterskills’ visibility by identifying and researching relevant conferences where leadership can present or participate as panelists. This includes reaching out to conference organizers / marketers and ensuring the company is well represented at key industry events.
- Community Building: Create and implement strategies for building a community of L&D stakeholders on LinkedIn or other relevant platforms. This may involve creating LinkedIn groups to share thought leadership content and encouraging engagement from key individuals.
- Stakeholder Interviews: Conduct interviews with clients and internal stakeholders to gather insights that can be transformed into engaging marketing content.
About You
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: You’re someone who doesn’t mind rolling up your sleeves and diving into the details, execution, and delivery.
- Great Communicator: You’re able to communicate effectively to a wide audience, from senior executives to associates, both orally and in writing.
- Thirst for Knowledge: You have a mindset that “every day is a school day” and love learning something new every day.
- Ambitious: You’re passionate about big goals and lofty aspirations and are excited by challenges in both your personal and professional life.
- Bias for Action: You gravitate towards challenges where the path to a solution is ambiguous and prefer blazing your own trail over following a well-trodden path.
Preferred Relevant Experience
- 2+ years’ experience designing and executing marketing campaigns.
- Experience organizing and coordinating online and in-person events.
- Strong communication skills, with an ability to distill complex information clearly and creatively.
- Tenacious attitude to engage key stakeholders and ensure timely task delivery.
- Relevant degree or professional marketing qualifications (preferred but not essential).
- Experience with design tools (e.g., Canva, Photoshop) and marketing automation platforms (e.g., Mailchimp) is desirable, though training can be provided.
- Experience in digital marketing campaigns within the education, learning and development, or professional development space is a plus.
